On August 22, in commemoration of the 1791 uprising that initiated the historic Haitian Revolution against French enslavement, MC Pauze and Francisco Herrera released their new song via Solidarity Records, “Lavalas.” The song honors the ongoing resistance of the Haitian people and the movement that overthrew the Duvalier dictatorship, swept President Jean-Bertrand Aristide into office in Haiti’s first democratic election, and continues to fight for a just and democratic Haiti today.
